OUR HISTORY

Drumalbyn Equestrian Centre combines a riding centre with two well-established pony studs Blandings Connemara Pony Stud (est. 1971) and Valkyrie Shetland Stud (est. early 1960s), a heritage sheep stud Drumalbyn Dorset Downs and an accidental horse rescue centre.
We are passionate about the Mountain and Moorland pony breeds and use them in our school – Connemara, Shetland, Welsh and Dartmoor. We are always seeking good examples of other native breeds on lease, loan or for purchase!
Our principal is Dr Kate Storey-Whyte who has judged and coached in Australia and overseas and is a former Connemara breed inspector. She has competed in ODEs and dressage up to Advanced. She is a qualified teacher and has published various articles on ponies, breeds and judging.
